On the 7th of December Colonel Slaughter, Area Administrator, will visit LA-063 to conduct an External Inspection. This Inspection occurs once every 3 years. The Cadet Staff is putting the final touches on the briefing they will present to not only Colonel Slaughter, but also to the principals of both West Jeff and Thomas Jefferson. Also invited are members of the Jefferson Parish Council, the Jefferson Parish School District, and local Gretna representatives.
This visit will give the cadets of LA-063 an opportunity to show off their accomplishments for the past 3 years since Colonel Slaughter’s last visit. It promises to be a full day of activities, with Colonel Slaughter scheduled to arrive at 0700. In addition to the briefing, Colonel Slaughter will be viewing a mandatory drill performance by members of the ROTC 2 class. He will also be visiting the classrooms to watch the Aerospace Science Instructors in action using the AFJROTC provided Classroom Performance System. Colonel Slaughter will also use this time as an opportunity to visit with the cadets.
Eight members of the 374 member cadet corps will also be recognized by Colonel Slaughter as he presents the Top Performer Award to each of them. Only 2 percent of the entire corps can receive this award annually. These cadets were nominated by the Aerospace Science Instructors based on their unselfish performance during this Fall Semester. These cadets excelled in support to the community as well as participation in the corps co-curricular activities such as Drill Team, Color Guard, Saber Team, Physical Fitness Team, etc.
It is the goal of the corps leadership to be recognized for the 38th consecutive year as an Outstanding Unit.
